Abdul
Today I surprised Abdul with a pop quiz! I don’t think he
was really thrilled with this, but he was a good sport about it. The quiz was
twenty fill-in-the-blank questions based on the phrasal verbs that we have been
covering. I used the same examples from the website we have been using and I
tried to use easy ones. He got about half of them without any problems. There
were a few that he had an answer that made sense but it wasn’t the phrasal verb
that we had been discussing. If I told him the first verb in the phrase it was
usually enough that he could get the rest. There were only three that I had to
flat out tell him and one was my fault because I forgot we hadn’t gotten to
that one yet. He clearly had a receptive knowledge of all of them because even
the ones I just told me he was like “Ohh yeahh” but he was unable to think of
them on his own.
Then we continued going over the phrasal verbs. We got
through maybe 7 because discussing the quiz took about half of our time and he
knew some of the phrases already. For our session Friday I plan to make him another
quiz.
