EY told me that she wanted to watch Despicable me 2 to improve her listening skill (she loves animations), so me, my tutee EY, Somi and Lila went to the movie. The movie was super cute and funny. We enjoyed the movie a lot. After the movie, EY and Somi told me that the movie was really cute and adorable, but they had troubles with understanding Russian accent in the movie. I also wasn't able to understand some(just few:P) of the movie because of the accent. When everybody went home, me and EY talked about the movie more and her problems. First, I asked her if she wasn't able to under the movie, and she said no. I found out that she probably understood the movie pretty much, but not every single word. I told her that it was hard for non-native English speaker students to understand every single word of English in movies or on TV or radio; however, we could still understand what they are saying because we could see what was happening. It was a very interesting topic to talk about because we both are non-native speakers and students who have difficulties with studying English.
Then we decided to study different accent later.
