This afternoon Zeb and I met with the Hong twins. I taught Matthew. We started out by reviewing some irregular verbs that he's had a hard time before with. I had a "Snakes and Ladders" board, and on each square I wrote one of the verbs he needed to review. We played the game normally, except that he had to use the verb on the square he landed on in a sentence (in the past tense). It was a small board so we played three times. I think the exercise was useful - at the beginning of the game he didn't know how to conjugate most of the words, but by the end he was using most correctly. And it seemed like he was having a good time! We took a break to play Uno with David and Zeb. After that we didn't have much time left, but were able play a few games of hangman. I introduced a new rule that our sentences had to use two homophones (we'd just talked about what homophones are and looked at a list of them). I thought that this would be fun as well as help with his spelling and vocabulary.
At the end of the hour we talked to the boys' mom for a minute and then agreed to meet again next week.
