Wednesday afternoon (the 31st)
I met with Matthew Hong. I basically followed the same pattern with
him as I had with David the week before. We watched some video clips
about snakes, lizards and alligators. After each video Matthew needed
to write several sentences about it, including a description of what
it was about and some of the main points and details. As he was
writing I would help him with spelling mistakes and offer (and
enforce implementation of) suggestions as to how he could improve his
sentences.
Matthew seemed to mostly enjoy the
session: there was one or two video clips that weren't fast paced
enough for him (giving lots of background information before the
action) and his attention started to drift a bit. When that happened
I would start looking for a natural break where we could move on to
something else that had more fast paced action.
After 30-40 minutes we joined
Lindsey and David for a game of Uno, which they seemed to greatly
enjoy. After we had played one round of Uno we went back over to our
table and played hangman and tic tac toe for 5-10 minutes until our
time was up.
