DJ TP#3
Yesterday I met with Abdullah again. We worked on writing an essay. He hadn't learned the American style yet, so I taught him the basic 5 paragraph format. We wrote on the topic "my favorite hobby", and he chose volleyball. While we were working, he asked me many good questions, one of them being "what is the difference between another and other?".
Later we took a break and talked about culture. He said that we have so many freedoms here in America: women can wear whatever they want, we can talk bad about the government and make fun of the president(he mentioned caricatures). The he asked me to look up what the most popular religion was, and told me he thought it was Islam. At one point, he told me that dogs have more rights that men, and that confused me.
We finished up the essay, and for homework I told him to proofread his essay and correct and grammar and spelling mistakes. Next time I will go over it and see if he missed anything, and then we will polish the essay.

As I mentioned in class, make sure that you give feedback on his structural errors before going over his grammar/spelling errors. Also, when answering grammar questions like the difference between "another" and "other", provide enough example sentences with those words.
