Tuesday
afternoon I met with Haneul again. I started out by asking her how
her trip to Destin Beach on Saturday had gone. She replied that it
hadn't gone very well. I asked “Why, did a shark bite you”?
That was not the case: it turned out that no one from the group that
traveled together had ever been to that beech before, and although
the driver used a phone for navigation they still drove around lost
for a while. They never found the specific place they were looking
for. She was disappointed because the beach they found wasn't very
pretty, and she was expecting to see a beach that was more beautiful
than any other that she had seen before.
This
meeting was the same as the last meeting that we had in that the
focus was on Haneul producing speech and then I would give her error
feedback and modeling. There were also times that I would explain
some cultural details, and frequently I gave her several
alternate ways of saying something or how to say something more
naturally. Whenever I give her more 'native' ways of saying things
or give an alternate way of saying something she typically writes it
down.
