Chan- CP#8

Mohammed and I met on Thursday, August 1st.  He prefers to meet after he has eaten, so we generally meet around 10:30pm.  This week I invited him to the Hop Yard to hear my friend’s rock band and talk about his current life issues.  Being only 18 years old, Mohammed is timid and seems a little nervous about how he acts or speaks to me.  But, I am quick to make him feel comfortable with easy-going conversation and by including him in the conversations that I have with friends as they greet me.  We talked about his possible plans for traveling during the break, and how he feels a little sad that he is not going home.  He mentioned that he wants to find a girlfriend who is American.  He wants to practice English with her and learn about her culture and asked me how he could meet someone around his own age.  I gave some advice about seeking out hobby clubs/groups that meet in town: perhaps a chess playing club, or a dancing club, or a rock-climbing club.  I showed him a couple of groovy dance moves, and he happily tried them out and we both laughed.  He told me that he enjoyed the rock music and wants to bring his friends to the Hop Yard sometime.  When the music finished, I took Mohammed home and we smiled and said goodbye.
