DJ CP #3

Yesterday I met with Wayo again. We talked about school systems in America and Korea. She told me that in Korea, they go to school from 6:30am to 11:00pm. I was shocked by this and told her, "that means you can't get 8 hours of sleep!" and she said, oh no, no one gets 8 hours of sleep in Korea. I told her I felt like it was a human rights violation, and that kids in America complain about school and call it prison, but they would hold their tongue. She also told me that they only learned via lecture, the teacher never asked for the student opinion. She said she never learned to think critically and creatively, and when she came to America, she love the critical thinking questions. She told me to talk to my other cp, Kwang, about how he should change the hours for schoolkids in Korea(he works for the department of education there). Then we talked about popular websites, and I explained the history behind youtube, myspace etc. We talked about smartphones and the way they are changing society, and she told me when she used to be a waitress, she hated seeing a couple come in and texting on their phones instead of talking to each other. Lastly, we talked about videogames. I talked to her about Halo, which she said she had played and thought was too hard. She told me that Starcraft was popular in Korea, and I told her that in the gaming community, that is a stereotype people have for Koreans, and she said that she had heard this stereotype before. Then she asked me if I could teach her to play Halo. I got really excited because most of my teaching experience is in teaching people videogames, and I love doing it. She started laughing and said "you are like Sheldon from the Big Bang Theory, but more human." I'll have to take that one as a compliment. She is going to try to convince Kwang to come over to my house on Monday so I can teach them how to play Halo. She was quite excited by this idea.
