DJ CP#4

Yesterday I met with Mahdi. He is 18 and from Kuwait. I asked him to tell me about himself and he said he had been in Tallahassee for a year and wants to study mechanical or chemical engineering. Hey said once he is done with his CIES class he wants to study engineering in Michigan. I asked him to tell me what school was like in Kuwait and he told me that they only had two classes, one for science and math and one for language and history. He said that women have a lot more freedom in America, for instance that they dont have to cover their skin and can walk places alone. He told me that he wants to practice speaking because he did poorly on that part of the toefl. He asked me if I had seen the movie "the heat" and told me it was his favorite movie. He said he liked another movie "identity thief" which has one of the same actresses as the heat. It's a buddy cop comedy. He asked me if I wanted to see a movie and seemed really excited for it, so I said yes even though I had more students to see. We brought one of them, Fares, with us. Mahdi insisted that he pay for my ticket, saying "I invited you". I realize now that I offered him and Fares some of my popcorn, but there were fasting, whoops. We watched pacific rim and he said he liked it, though I think comedies probably translate better.
